Troubleshooting: Scanning extra RFID labels

Troubleshooting: Scanning extra RFID labels

The RFID scanner is detecting additional labels, resulting in inaccurate item counts.

RFID scanners read all nearby labels unless the labels are blocked by materials that interfere with RFID signals. Extra labels—such as unused labels for new items or discarded labels in the trash—may still be readable and included in counts.

  1. Store unused labels properly.
    1. Place extra labels for new items in a metal container. Metal blocks RFID signals and prevents unintended scans.
  2. Remove discarded labels from the area.
    1. If labels are in the trash, move the trash bin out of the scanning area to prevent those tags from being read.

After storing extra labels and removing trash, run the scan again and confirm that no unwanted tags are included in the count.

Contact support if:

  • No additional labels are present in the scanning area, and
  • The scanner still detects extra tags.
