How To: Swap the On-Hand/Parent Size (Edit Base Unit)

When managing items with multiple sizes, it’s essential to configure them correctly. The on-hand/parent size should always represent the base unit or smallest measurement, while additional sizes should be created for purchasing or counting sizes. If the setup is incorrect, the sizes can be swapped with ease.

All client types may manage items with multiple sizes and occasionally need to swap sizes when setup issue arise, though this is more commonly seen with Food & Beverage and Concession clients.

The following employee permissions are required:
  1. Inventory Items > Item Lists > Visible
  2. Inventory Items > Edit Base Unit > Visible
  3. Inventory Items Edit Base Unit > Swap Base Unit > Yes

If the base unit is not currently the on-hand (parent) size, you can assign it as the on-hand size by following the below steps:

  1. Under Item Management > Inventory Items, click to highlight the item then select Edit Base Unit.
  2. Click to highlight the base unit size then click Swap Base Unit.
  3. Select Yes.
  4. Click Yes do it now.
  5. Select Yes, Yes I'm finished.
