How To: Install the Zebra ZD411 Printer Driver

 WHY IT'S IMPORTANT

When you install the correct driver, Windows can communicate with your Zebra ZD411 printer so it prints labels and tags reliably from Yellow Dog Inventory. Without the driver, the ZD411 will not be recognized as a printer. This article walks you through downloading Windows Printer Driver v10 from Zebra and installing it for a USB connection on a Windows PC.

 PREREQUISITES

•     Administrator rights on the PC. If you do not have admin rights, contact your IT department for assistance.

•     Your Zebra ZD411 printer and its USB cable on hand. Do not connect the cable yet.

Caution: Do not connect the ZD411 to your PC until the Printer Installation Wizard prompts you to (the Detect USB Printer step near the end). Connecting the printer before the driver is installed can cause Windows to list it as an unknown device and require additional recovery steps.

 STEP BY STEP

Download the driver

1.   Go to Zebra's ZD411 driver download page. 

2.   On the Downloads tab, under the Driver category, select Windows Printer Driver v10 (marked Recommended) and click Download. 

3.   On the End User License Agreement page, select Accept and Begin Download Now. The .exe file downloads to your Downloads folder.

Run the driver setup

1.   In your Downloads folder, double-click the downloaded .exe file to run it.

2.   When Windows asks whether to allow the app to make changes to your device, select Yes.

3.   When the ZDesigner Windows Printer Driver wizard opens, select Next.

4.   On the Select Destination screen, keep the default install folder (or choose another with Browse) and select Next.

5.   Select Next to continue through the driver setup.

6.   Check I have read the information above, then select Next.

7.   Leave Run the printer installation wizard checked, uncheck View release notes, and select Finish.

Complete the Printer Installation Wizard

1.   Wait for the files to load, then select Next to begin installing the driver.

2.   Select Install Printer Driver.

3.   Select I accept the terms in the license agreement, then select Next.

4.   On the Select Port screen, select USB Port. (For an Ethernet, Wi-Fi, or Bluetooth printer, choose the matching option instead.)

5.   When the Detect USB Printer screen appears, connect the ZD411 to the PC and power it on. If it is already connected, unplug and reconnect the USB cable. The wizard automatically detects the printer model.

6.   Confirm or edit the printer name and language, then select Install.

7.   When the summary reports that installation succeeded, select Exit.

Note: You can confirm the installation by opening Control Panel > Devices and Printers and verifying that the ZD411 now appears in the list.
