Quick reference: Break base unit and related size relationships (Breaking Parent/Child Relationships)

If a base unit item has related sizes for purchasing, counting, or recipes that are no longer needed, you can break the parent-child relationship. This action converts each related item into a standalone item.

  • Break Parent Child Relationship is available as a right-click option.

    • If you don’t see this option, contact your onsite administrator.

  • On-hand quantities remain only with the former base unit (parent item).

  • The daily Maintenance process must run after you break the relationship to update calculated costs.

    • If calculated costs don’t update as expected after maintenance runs, manually reset the cost for the affected item or items.
