Troubleshooting: RFID Labels not Scanning
Some items are not being detected by the RFID scanner
RFID labels may not work when applied directly to certain
materials, including:
These materials can block or interfere with RFID signals.

- Check the item material.
- Confirm what type of material the label is attached to.
- Use an alternate label type or placement.
- Adjusting how the label is applied can improve scan performance.
Label Placement Recommendations (Yellow Dog)
Bottled Drinks and Wine Bottles
- Use a bottle tag.
- Apply the RFID label to the bottle tag instead of directly on the bottle to improve readability.
Small Items and Jewelry
- Use jewelry labels.
- Wrap the label so the RFID portion hangs off the item, allowing the scanner to read it.
Insulated Cups
- Use a flag-style label.
- This label extends outward from the item so the RFID tag is not blocked by insulation.
Items with Holographic Logos (e.g., hats)
- Do not place the RFID tag directly behind or touching the holographic area.
- Reposition the label so it avoids the holographic material.

After adjusting the label type or placement, try scanning
the item again.
