Yellow Dog/SkyWire Integration Overview

Yellow Dog/SkyWire Integration Overview

This document will provide an overview of the Yellow Dog Skywire(formerly Pebble) integration

Integration Approach

This integration can only be setup as a 2Way – items are pulled, and sales are pushed. NOTE: There is no sync application that can be controlled on the Yellow Dog side. Everything is sent to us, or pulled from us by SkyWire
  1. Sales – Pushed to the Yellow Dog API
  2. Codes – Pushed to the Yellow Dog API
  3. Items – Pulled from the Yellow Dog API
    1. On values are pulled from the API as well

Requirements for Items to be picked up by SkyWire

  1. Items must be available to at least 1 store set up in the integration
  2. Items must have unique descriptions
  3. Items must have retail1 set, for the outlet(s) assigned in the integration
  4. Item must have a POS Description assigned. This will populate automatically, and can be verified on the Retail Details tab of the item editor

  1. Interfaces (Defaults can be assigned for these areas in SkyWire that will be assigned if nothing is assigned in the Yellow Dog interfaces
    1. At least 1 Menu Item Group Assigned
    2. At least 1 Product Group Assigned
    3. Print Group
    4. Service Charge Group
    5. Tax Group
    6. Revenue Type

Item management best practices

  1. Any updates or edits that need to be made to items should be made in Yellow Dog, and allowed to be picked up by SkyWire

Limitations

  1. Items must have unique descriptions
    1. For this reason, Matrices are not supported by SkyWire
    2. If Parent and Child items need to be sold, then each item must have a unique description
  2. SkyWire processes discounts by order, whereas Yellow Dog requires unit discounts by the line item, which involves dividing the order discounts before posting the line-item unit discounts to YD; this can lead to rounding errors
  3. SkyWire does not allow items to have share availability, so if there is any item available to multiple outlets in Yellow Dog it will be created multiple times in SkyWire – once for each outlet it is available to.
  4. If users want Vendor Price to be picked up by SkyWire, the vendor whose price is preferred should be marked at the primary vendor in Yellow Dog.
  5. An item can have multiple UPCs assigned, however if there are duplicate UPCs in Yellow Dog, this will cause an error in Skywire
