FAQs: Automatically Adding Sold Items to a Store
Self-hosted admin · Yellow Dog Inventory 2026
WHY IT'S IMPORTANT
This article is
for self-hosted clients. It explains behavior that saves you from manually
assigning an item to a store the first time it sells there.
Question
If an item
sells in a store where it wasn’t set up yet, can Yellow Dog add it to that
store automatically?
Answer
Yes. When an
item sells in a store where it wasn’t already available, Yellow Dog Inventory
automatically makes that item available to the store, so you don’t have to
assign it by hand.
This is built
into ProcessSalesData.exe. Because
self-hosted clients manage their own setup, the behavior applies as long as ProcessSalesData.exe is set up and scheduled
to run. Your IT team or whoever maintains your Yellow Dog setup handles this.
