Quick Reference: Requirements for Items to Push to Shopify

End user  ·  Yellow Dog Inventory 2026

 WHY IT'S IMPORTANT

When the Shopify integration is configured to push items, Yellow Dog only sends items that meet a specific set of requirements. An item that is missing any one of these will not push, even if every other condition is met. Confirming these requirements before a sync prevents missing or incomplete products in Shopify and reduces back-and-forth during setup and ongoing maintenance.

 WHERE

Item requirements are set on the item or matrix record in Yellow Dog. The Send to Web setting is found on the Web Properties tab. Store availability and active/removed status are managed on the item record as well.

Note: Items push only to the Interfaces Store designated in the sync configuration. Every item that should push must be available to that store.

 HIGHLIGHTS

To push a full item to Shopify, all of the following must be true:

Send to Web is enabled on the Web Properties tab.

The item is available to the Interfaces store.

The item is active (not removed).

Retail Price is set. When using Allow $0 Retail, the retail price must be explicitly set to $0 — it cannot be left blank.

Pushing on-hand quantities only

When the integration pushes only on-hand quantities (not full items), the requirements differ. For on-hand quantities to update, the item must:

Send to Web enabled on the Web Properties tab.

     Be active (not removed).

Be available to the mapped store in Yellow Dog.

Have different on-hand quantities in Shopify and Yellow Dog.

Items must match on SKU: enter the Yellow Dog SKU in the Shopify SKU field. During the initial sync, select Send to Web to match items. After the initial sync completes, Send to Web can be disabled.

Note: When pushing only on-hand quantities, Track Inventory must be enabled manually in Shopify.

 BEST PRACTICES

Make all item updates in Yellow Dog when pushing items to Shopify. Changes made directly in Shopify are overwritten during the next sync.

For matrix items, Shopify mirrors the dimension order defined in Yellow Dog. Define dimensions in Yellow Dog in the order you want them displayed in Shopify.
