Troubleshooting: POS Item Mapping

Sales are depleting the wrong recipe ingredients or posting revenue to incorrect COGS accounts.

Recipes or COGS accounts are mapped to the wrong POS items or outlets.

Review and correct COGS and recipe mappings.

Verify COGS mappings
  1. Open POS Item Map and confirm the correct store is selected.
    1. Make sure no POS items are marked as Ignored.
    2. Assign a COGS account to all items, including items with a $0 price.
  2. This ensures future sales post to the correct COGS account if pricing changes.
  3. Run Standard Reports > POS Menu Items without a COGS Assigned.
    1. Review the report to confirm COGS accounts are assigned to the correct items and outlets.
  4. Use Hide POS Items That Have COGS Already Set to focus on items missing assignments.

IdeaBest practice: Schedule this report to be emailed weekly to catch missing COGS mappings as soon as possible.

Verify Recipe Mapping
  1. Open POS Item Map and confirm correct store is selected
  2. Check the option to Hide POS item that have a recipe mapped. This will allow you to focus on items with missed recipe assignments
  3. Run Standard Report >All Sales Captured  to review all sales as they have been pulled in from the point of sale.
    1. Any items listed as 'unassigned' have either not been mapped in POS Item map, or retail items not created or managed in Yellow Dog

Review recipe and COGS mappings to confirm that:

  • Revenue posts to the correct COGS accounts.

  • Inventory depletion aligns with the correct recipe ingredients.
