What is a "No Count" item?

Definition - A No Count item in Yellow Dog Inventory is an item that will never have an on hand value or be counted in Physical Inventories. These item can still be received into Yellow Dog and sold through your POS, BUT these adjustments will have no impact on the on hand value. The on hand will remain at 0.

 

Q: When would you use a No Count item? 

A: No Count items are used for items like, Plastic shopping bags, Silverware, Napkins, Straws, etc. Users can also configure items such as newspapers as No Count - typically this is more of a service offered than a product, and they not be concerned with on hand, or cost.  In most cases you will not be counting these items, but you will be ordering these items from your vendors. You will also be able to track how much you have ordered in a specific time frame.  

 

Q: How do I make an item a "No Count" item?

A: Open the item editor, then navigate to the "Other Details" tab. Select the option "No Count (item "XYZ" will always have an on hand of zero).
