WHY IT'S IMPORTANT
Yellow Dog Inventory connects to your Simphony 2 point-of-sale (POS) system through a two-way integration with Oracle. Knowing what moves between the two systems — and in which direction — helps you manage items in the right place and avoid having your changes overwritten. This overview explains how the sync works, what an item needs before it will push to Simphony, and the limits of the integration.
HOW IT WORKS
The Yellow Dog / Simphony integration is a two-way integration. Data moves between the systems as follows:
• Sales — pulled into Yellow Dog once per day from files provided by Oracle.
• Codes — pulled from the Simphony API.
• Items — pushed from Yellow Dog to the Simphony API.
REQUIREMENTS
For an item to push to Simphony, all of the following must be true.
Item status
• The item is active.
• The item is available to the store.
• The item is not POS Blocked.
• The item's Publish field is set to push — for example, 1 Yes – Push all, including removes.
Interface codes
• A Major Group is set in Interfaces.
• A Family Group is set in Interfaces.
• A Menu Item Class is set in Interfaces.
Note: The Interface Codes (as of last sync) view (under Item Management > Inventory Items) lets you confirm at a glance that Publish is enabled, the item is Available to the store, and the item is not POS Blocked. |
BEST PRACTICES
Make all updates and edits to your items in Yellow Dog Inventory and let them push to Simphony on the next sync.
Caution: If you make changes directly in Simphony, Yellow Dog will overwrite them the next time the integration runs. |
LIMITATIONS
• Sales are provided only once per day.
• Sales do not include transaction-specific details such as check-closed or transaction numbers.
• The integration does not delete barcodes from Simphony. Any barcode you delete in Yellow Dog must be removed from Simphony manually.
• All barcodes have a 13-digit limit.
Caution: Before removing items from Simphony, set the item's Publish field to No, push nothing to prevent errors in the sync. |
BEFORE CONTACTING SUPPORT
If your items are still not ringing up at the POS, check the following before contacting Yellow Dog Support:
• Confirm the item meets all of the requirements listed above.
• Confirm your scheduled sync time has already passed. Review your sync times in the Scheduled Apps report under Standard Reports or ask Support for your scheduled times.
• Note any errors that appear at the POS when you scan the item. These errors help Support identify the issue.
