 WHY IT'S IMPORTANT

Worksheets streamline purchasing and other critical inventory management tasks by reducing manual entry, improving planning accuracy, and supporting scalability as your company grows. Rather than building purchasing documents or transfers one at a time, you work across many items and locations on a single screen and let Yellow Dog Inventory suggest the quantities.

Yellow Dog Inventory offers eight worksheets, each suited to a different purchasing or production task. Most are available to all verticals; in practice, Replenishment Worksheets are used primarily by Retail, and the Production Worksheet is most common in Food & Beverage.

 REQUIREMENTS

Module access

The Worksheets module is controlled by permissions. Within it, each worksheet type can be made available or unavailable individually, so the worksheets a user sees depend on what an Admin has enabled.

If you cannot see Worksheets, or a specific worksheet you expect, see your onsite Admin for additional permissions.

Per-worksheet conditions

Replenishment (PAR and Sales): Sales data and/or PAR levels must be in place for the worksheet to calculate suggestions.

Transfer: Multiple stores must exist, since transfers move product between locations.

Order Desk: Must be enabled system-wide.

Production: Recipes must be configured, since the worksheet turns recipes into prep lists.

Warehouse store

A warehouse (or source) store is required only for the Replenishment and Transfer worksheets, which generate orders or transfers from a warehouse to other locations. The other worksheets do not require one.

 KEY FEATURES

Replenishment (PAR) Worksheet — uses PAR levels (target on-hand amounts) to generate suggested orders or transfers, helping each store keep the right amount of stock on hand and minimizing shortages or overstocks.

Replenishment (Sales) Worksheet — uses sales data to generate suggested orders or transfers, making it ideal for demand-based ordering when sales of certain items spike.

PAR Worksheet — provides a fast, repeatable way to mass-update PAR levels using actual sales data from a selected date range or event.

Purchase Order Worksheet — creates purchase orders by vendor across multiple stores, streamlining buying and keeping procurement consistent and efficient.

Transfer Worksheet — handles inventory transfers between stores, outlets, or warehouses, essential for multi-location businesses balancing stock or moving goods where they are needed most.

Order Desk Worksheet — consolidates multiple requests into one centralized worksheet, often used to compare vendor bids and generate purchase orders.

Production Worksheet — turns recipes into actionable prep lists, helping kitchens and production teams plan daily prep.

 HOW IT WORKS

Every worksheet opens through a wizard, and the steps to get started are essentially the same: you set filters (such as the stores, levels, vendors, or date range to include), generate the worksheet, then review and adjust the suggested quantities before finalizing. At a conceptual level, the worksheet compares your targets — PAR levels, sales, or requested quantities — against current on-hand to suggest how much to order, transfer, or prep.

Committing a worksheet generates a purchasing or transfer document, depending on the worksheet: the Replenishment, Purchase Order, and Order Desk worksheets produce purchasing documents, and the Transfer Worksheet produces transfers. The Production Worksheet is the exception — it produces prep lists rather than a purchasing or transfer document.
