How To: Manage Locally Stored Sessions in Count XL

How To: Manage Locally Stored Sessions in Count XL

 WHY IT'S IMPORTANT

Count XL normally sends a finalized session straight to Yellow Dog Inventory. If the device loses its network connection at that moment, Count XL stores the session on the device instead of losing it. Knowing how to upload or delete these locally stored sessions keeps your physical inventory counts accurate and prevents old sessions from piling up on the handheld.

 PREREQUISITES

Your Yellow Dog Client ID, Count XL username, and password

A Yellow Dog handheld (e.g., EA520or EA530) with Count XL installed

Assigned store access if your organization has multiple locations

 STEP BY STEP

Create, Count, and Upload a Session

1.   Launch Count XL and log in with your Client ID, username, and password.

2.   Tap + New Session, enter a session name, and, if your organization has multiple locations, select the correct location from the Store dropdown.

3.   Begin counting. Use the blue buttons on the side of an EA520 or EA530 to trigger the scanner, or tap the search icon to look up items manually.

4.   When counts are complete, tap the cloud icon (upward arrow) to finalize the session.

5.   At the confirmation prompt, tap Finalize to send the session to Yellow Dog Inventory.

Note: If Count XL loses its connection while finalizing, it stores the session locally instead and shows a Session Stored Locally message. Tap OK to dismiss it, then upload the session once Wi-Fi is available again.

Note: You can create additional sessions for the same location while Wi-Fi is unavailable. Count XL can't create sessions for a different location offline, since it needs a connection to download that location's items.

Upload or Delete Locally Stored Sessions

1.   From the main session screen, tap the Locally Stored Sessions box to view the sessions saved on the device.

2.   To upload everything at once, tap Upload All, then confirm by tapping Let's Go!. Sessions disappear from the list as they upload, and the Locally Stored Sessions count returns to 0 once all sessions have synced.

3.   To upload one session at a time, tap the session name to open the session editor, tap the cloud icon, then tap Finalize to confirm. An Upload Successful message confirms the session was sent.

4.   To remove sessions instead of uploading them, tap Delete All, then confirm by tapping Delete.

Caution: Deleting locally stored sessions is permanent and can't be undone. Confirm the counts have already been uploaded or are no longer needed before you delete.
