How To: Connect Power BI to Yellow Dog Inventory
Microsoft Power BI is a data visualization and business intelligence tool that allows users to connect to various data sources, transform data, and create interactive dashboards and reports. Pulling data from Yellow Dog into Power BI enables users to analyze inventory, sales, and purchasing trends in real time, combining them with data from other systems for deeper insights. This helps teams make data-driven decisions and identify opportunities for efficiency or growth.
- Open Power BI Desktop.
- Select SQL Server.
- Click Import data from SQL Server.
- Enter Server and Database Name information.
Example: - Server = companyname.ydihosting.net,55005
- Database = YellowDogInventory_CompanyName
- Choose Direct Query and click OK.
- Select the Database tab.
- Enter your Username and Password then click Connect.
- From the Navigator window, select the following tables:
- reporting.viewDailyBIRollup_Full
- reporting.viewDailyTPTransactionRollup
- Click Load.
Result: The connection to the BI tables is now completed and designing you BI dashboards can begin.
