Troubleshooting: Incorrect Inventory Adjustments Due to Ledger

  1. Inventory quantities are incorrect (overstated or understated).
  2. Unexpected adjustments appear in inventory history, often referencing system-generated entries.

  1. Adjustments were created before an accounting ledger update or fix was fully applied.
  2. This created inaccurate system-generated inventory entries (for example, "Received Invoice to Accounting Ledger").

 Identify affected adjustments

  1. Go to the relevant inventory transaction history or adjustment screen.
  2. Filter or search for entries with references such as:
    • "Received Invoice to Accounting Ledger"
  3. Review the date range when the issue occurred.

Remove incorrect adjustments

  1. Locate the affected adjustment entries.
  2. Confirm the entries are system-generated and incorrect.
  3. Remove or reverse only those entries.
AlertCaution: Do not remove valid adjustments. Verify each entry before removal.

Review affected items (SKUs)

  1. Identify all SKUs impacted during the issue timeframe.
  2. Check for items that were manually adjusted to offset discrepancies.

Manually correct inventory quantities

  1. For each affected SKU:
    • Compare system quantity to actual or expected quantity.
    • Create a Manual Adjustment to correct the value.
  2. Ensure updated quantities reflect true on-hand inventory.

Key Takeaways

  • Identify system-generated adjustments using reference values (for example, "Received Invoice to Accounting Ledger").
  • Distinguish between system-generated and manual adjustments before making changes.
  1. Confirm all incorrect system-generated adjustments are removed.
  2. Verify corrected SKUs show accurate on-hand quantities.
  3. Ensure no new incorrect adjustments are being created.
