Tip: Once an initial recipe type is created, you can also create and manage Recipe Types under the Item Management > Recipes screen by clicking the Recipe Types… hyperlink.

After selecting the hyperlink, you will be able to:
  1. Create new recipe types.
  2. Edit existing recipe types.
  3. Remove recipe types.

  1. Use Clear, Descriptive Types: Create recipe types that match your operational categories (e.g., Batch Recipes, Sandwiches, Beer/Wine Pours, Grab-and-Go)

  2. Distinguish Recipe Usage: Have clear categories for menu item recipes and prep (Batch or Production) recipes.

  3. Always Set a Recipe Type in the Editor: When creating or editing recipes, assign the type via the Recipe Type dropdown in the Recipe Editor.

  4. Avoid Overlapping or Redundant Types: Don’t create too many recipe types with similar meanings (e.g., “Appetizers” and “Starters”).
