How To: Control Who Edits Certain Items with Approved Items
It’s important to protect your data integrity. While some items may be safe for users to edit, you may want to restrict changes to certain items. Approved items in Yellow Dog allow you to control edit ability by item.
All client types can take advantage of using approved items.
Step 1: Grant Approved Item Permission to Item Approvers
To start, you will need to decide who will have the ability to approve and/or edit approved by applying the appropriate employee permissions:
- Navigate to System Setup > Employees > Employee Groups, click to highlight the employee group, then select Edit Employee Group.
- Use the search bar under Access Options to type Approve.
- Grant the appropriate permissions:
- Inventory Items > Item Editor > Other Details > Approved Item > Visible: Allows users to see if the item is an approved item.
- Inventory Items > Item Editor > Other Details > Approved Item > Edit: Grants users the ability to mark items as approved.
- Inventory Items > Item Editor > Other Details > Approved Item > Edit after Approved: Allows users to edit item details that they have permission to edit after the item is approved.
- If users are provided access to edit an approved item after it has been approved, grant permission to which fields can be edited after approval.
- Use the search bar to type Item Editor.
- Select the box Edit after Approved for any item details the users can edit after an item is approved.
