How To: Calibrate the ZT411 / ZT421 RFID Printer Manually

How To: Calibrate the ZT411 / ZT421 RFID Printer Manually

Applies to ZT411 and ZT421 industrial label printers used with Yellow Dog Inventory

WHY IT'S IMPORTANT

Manual calibration adjusts the sensitivity of the printer's media and ribbon sensors, which keeps labels aligned and barcodes scannable. Run it whenever the printer stops detecting media or ribbon correctly. Calibrate the ZT411 or ZT421 when any of the following is true:

You switched to a different size or type of ribbon or media.

     The printer skips labels.

The printed image wanders or drifts side to side or up and down.

The ribbon isn't detected when it's installed or when it runs out.

Non-continuous labels are treated as continuous labels.

PREREQUISITES

Media and ribbon are loaded correctly in the printer.

You have access to the printer's control panel and Home screen.

! CAUTION — LINERLESS CUTTER

Before you start, remove any media that extends out of the cutter. Media left sticking out can block the label-taken sensor, and calibration will fail.

STEP BY STEP

1.    On the Home screen, touch Print > Sensors > Manual Calibration.

2.    Touch Start Calibration.

3.    Follow the on-screen calibration steps in order. Touch Next to advance to each prompt.

a.     When you're prompted to remove labels from the backing and move the backing under the sensor, remove the media from the media path and close the printhead assembly.

b.    To stop at any point, press and hold Cancel on the control panel.

4.    When calibration finishes, press Pause to exit pause mode and resume printing.

! IMPORTANT

Follow the calibration procedure exactly as the printer presents it. Skipping or reordering a prompt can cause calibration to fail.
