Feature Overview: Password Recovery

What is Password Recovery?

Password Recovery is a built-in feature that allows Yellow Dog users to securely reset their login credentials independently by answering predefined security questions. This self-service option reduces the need for administrator involvement during login issues.

Why Use It?

  1. Reduces admin workload: Users can reset their own passwords without contacting an admin.
  2. Enhances security: Users must verify their identity using security questions.
  3. Saves time: Users regain access to Yellow Dog quickly after forgetting their password.
Important: If password recovery is not configured, only an admin user with permission to edit employees can reset a user’s login password.

Where to Find It?

You can access Password Recovery from the top menu bar in Yellow Dog Inventory.

Best Practices

  1. Encourage users to configure Password Recovery immediately after account creation.
  2. Use memorable, non-obvious answers for security questions.
  3. Periodically verify that security questions are still accurate.

How It Works

Setup:

  1. Select Password Recovery on the top menu bar.
  2. Enter your current password and click OK.
  3. Select and answer two security questions.
  4. Click Save and Close.

Recovery:

1. Enter an incorrect password, then click Forgot Password.
2. Enter your employee number (username) then click OK.
3. Click OK on the pop-up.
4. Enter a new password, then click Save and Close.
