Feature Overview: Password Recovery
Password Recovery provides several key benefits:
- Reduces admin workload: Users can reset their own passwords without contacting an admin.
- Enhances security: Users must verify their identity using security questions.
- Saves time: Users regain access to Yellow Dog quickly after forgetting their password.
Important: If password recovery is not configured, only an admin user with permission to edit employees can reset a user’s login password.
You can access Password Recovery from the top menu bar in Yellow Dog Inventory.

Best Practices
New users should set up Password Recovery immediately to ensure they can easily reset their password if it's ever forgotten.
All client types should utilize the Password Recovery feature.
Password Recovery is a built-in feature that allows Yellow Dog users to securely reset their login credentials independently by answering predefined security questions. This self-service option reduces the need for administrator involvement during login issues.
- Encourage users to configure Password Recovery immediately after account creation.
- Use memorable, non-obvious answers for security questions.
- Periodically verify that security questions are still accurate.
