Feature Overview: Events, Event Types & EOM Events

 WHY IT'S IMPORTANT

Concessions operations run on event-based cycles rather than a single monthly period. In Yellow Dog Inventory, each event acts as its own operational period: sales, transfers, and counts are tracked within that event's defined timeframe, then grouped together for reporting and reconciliation. Before an event begins, it has to be created and configured, and events are created and managed in the Stand Sheets area, which houses stand-specific information and supports event creation.

 KEY FEATURES

Event

A scheduled occurrence where inventory activity — sales, transfers, and counts — is tracked within a defined timeframe. Each event groups that activity together for reporting and reconciliation.

Event Type

A template used to standardize how events are created and managed. Event Types categorize events (for example, football game, concert, or festival) and standardize configuration such as reporting, stand behavior, and pricing.

Milestone Times

The restock, sales, and reconciliation cutoffs an event runs on. An event's Milestone Times are predetermined by the Event Type assigned to it.

EOM Event (Stand EOM)

The month-end (End-of-Month) close runs in concessions as its own event. A Stand EOM defines which stands are included in the EOM Event and which item types are required to be counted out.

Caution: The Event Type drives an event's milestone cutoffs. Applying the wrong Event Type can set incorrect restock, sales, and reconciliation boundaries for the whole event.

 BEST PRACTICES

Confirm the Event Type before activity begins

Because the Event Type predetermines every milestone cutoff, verify the correct type is applied before the event runs.

Treat the Event Type as a configuration decision, not a label — it standardizes reporting, stand behavior, and pricing for the whole event.

Review stand profiling ahead of each EOM Event

Confirm item availability, correct stand assignment, and accurate setup before the EOM Event so counts and reporting stay reliable.

Use the Stand EOM to confirm the right stands are included and the correct item types are set to count out.
