Troubleshooting: Client ID or Secret not correctly set error when uploading images



You receive the error “Client ID or Secret not correctly set” when saving images to an item or recipe.

This error occurs when Yellow Dog Inventory cannot access the Yellow Dog API.

Common causes:

  • The system is locally hosted (no API access).
  • API access is available, but setup is incorrect 

Confirm hosting type

Determine whether your system is locally hosted or cloud-hosted.

  • Locally hosted systems do not support API access
  • Cloud-hosted systems (hosted by Yellow Dog) support API access

Contact your internal IT team if you are unsure.

Evaluate your setup

  • If your system is locally hosted:
    • Image uploads are not supported
    • API-dependent features are unavailable
  • If your system is cloud-hosted:
    • This error indicates a configuration issue

  • Save an image to an item or recipe.
  • Confirm the image uploads without error.
  • Verify the image displays correctly in the item or recipe record.
