For Mac installation instructions, please refer to the Mac-specific guide available from your Implementation or Support contact.


 

Before You Begin

You'll need three pieces of information before starting. Gather these before proceeding to the installation steps.

CLIENT ID

Your organization's unique identifier in the Yellow Dog system. Required to connect to your environment.

USERNAME

Your employee number. This is used as your login username within Yellow Dog Inventory.

 

PASSWORD

Your account password, set up during onboarding or provided by your Yellow Dog Administrator.

 

Don't have this information? If your project is still in Implementation, contact your Implementation Guide. If your project has moved to Support, reach out to your company's internal Yellow Dog Administrator.

 

Finding Your Client ID

For Yellow Dog Administrators who need to locate or retrieve their Client ID.

You do not have access to Yellow Dog Inventory

Contact Support at support@yellowdogsoftware.com or call 757-663-7514.

 

Installation Steps

Follow these five steps in order. A short video walkthrough is also available: How To Install Yellow Dog Inventory (1 min) →

Open the Yellow Dog portal

Open a web browser and navigate to  balto.yellowdog.software .

Enter your Client ID

Type your Client ID into the field provided, then select Submit.

Log in with your credentials

Enter your Username (employee number) and Password, then select Login.

Open the Client Install Guide

Select the user icon in the top-right corner of the screen, then select Client Install Guide from the dropdown menu.

Complete the installation

Follow the on-screen steps provided in the Client Install Guide to finish installing Yellow Dog Inventory on your Windows machine.

 

Pre-Install Checklist

Confirm the following before starting the installation.

  Client ID is on hand

  Username (employee number) is confirmed

  Password is known and accessible

  A supported web browser is installed (Chrome, Edge, Firefox)

  Internet connection is active

  Windows user account has permission to install software
