How To: Import Freepour Counts into a Physical Inventory

 WHY IT'S IMPORTANT

Yellow Dog partners with Freepour, a bar scale system. Inventory counts collected in Freepour can be imported into a Yellow Dog physical inventory, giving you a seamless counting experience. This article covers the one-time setup, assigning Yellow Dog SKUs to Freepour items, and importing counts.

 PREREQUISITES

The Freepour integration must be included in your contract, with initial setup completed by Freepour and Yellow Dog.

Items must be assigned to a Yellow Dog SKU in Freepour. Freepour completes an initial import to map existing items; you assign the Yellow Dog SKU to any items added after that.

To import, the Import Third Party employee permission, assigned by a database admin.

 STEP BY STEP

Assign a Yellow Dog SKU to a Freepour item

Assigning the Yellow Dog SKU in Freepour lets Yellow Dog match items correctly and apply counts to the right inventory items. In Freepour:

1.  Go to Product Setup > Inventory and open the item.

2.  Use the Export UOM dropdown to set the export unit of measure.

3.  Enter the Yellow Dog SKU in the POS ID field.

Note: If Yellow Dog export is configured in Dashboard to export by UPC, assign the Yellow Dog inventory items the UPC used by ScanChecker Dashboard.

Step 1. Export counts from Freepour

1.  Select an inventory count to view.

2.  In the Count Summary form, use POS Export and select By Inventory ID.

Note: The export currently works only when one stocking location is selected. To export multiple bars to Yellow Dog, export each one separately.

Step 2. Import counts into Yellow Dog

1.  Go to Physical Inventory > Sessions and select Import 3rd Party Session.

2.  Highlight the session you want to import and select Select. The session is now in the database and can be pulled into the physical inventory as usual.

Note: If Import 3rd Party Session is greyed out, the export did not complete in Freepour — review Step 1. If the button is not visible at all, a database admin must assign you the Import Third Party permission.

 FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

Why is the Import 3rd Party Session button missing from my screen?

A database admin must assign you the Import Third Party permission. If you are a database admin and still do not have it, contact Yellow Dog Support by submitting a ticket on the Customer Portal or calling the support hotline at 757-663-7514.

Why is Import 3rd Party Session greyed out?

The export was not properly sent and received from Freepour. Review the export steps and repeat them to confirm each was completed correctly.

Why can’t I import a session that is listed?

If the session shows that it contains invalid items, the counts cannot be imported until that is resolved. An invalid item occurs when a Freepour item is not assigned, or is wrongly assigned, to a Yellow Dog SKU. Identify any newly created items and check the POS ID assignment in Freepour.
