FAQs: Wi-Fi Compatibility for Unitech Scanning Devices

FAQs: Wi-Fi Compatibility for Unitech Scanning Devices

End user  ·  Yellow Dog Inventory 2026

 WHY IT'S IMPORTANT

Yellow Dog Inventory clients across Retail, Food & Beverage, and Concessions use Unitech handheld devices to scan inventory. Not every device supports the same Wi-Fi bands and security protocols, so knowing which device works with which network prevents connection failures during scanning. The questions below cover the EA520, EA530, and EA602.

Which Unitech scanning devices support WPA3 security and 6GHz Wi-Fi networks?

Of the current Unitech devices used for inventory scanning, only the EA530 supports WPA3 security and the 6GHz Wi-Fi band. The EA520 and EA602 do not support either.

My network uses WPA3 or 6GHz. What are my options for the EA520 and EA602?

You have two options:

1.    Upgrade to the EA530 if you need devices compatible with WPA3 and/or 6GHz networks. This is the recommended path.

2.    Provide a compatible network for the EA520/EA602 by adding or maintaining a Wi-Fi network (or SSID) that uses 2.4GHz/5GHz with WPA2 security.
