How To: Connect a Zebra ZD411 Network Printer

 WHY IT'S IMPORTANT

When you connect your Zebra printer to your network, any workstation on that network can send print jobs to it — the printer no longer needs to stay plugged into one specific computer. This is the standard setup for label and receipt printers shared across multiple stations. This article walks you through finding the printer's network address and adding it as a network printer in Windows.

 STEP BY STEP

Connect the Printer

1.   Download and install the Zebra printer drivers from the Zebra website. See How To: Download Zebra Printer Drivers for the full walkthrough.

2.   Connect the power cable and a network (Ethernet) cable to the back of the printer, then confirm the network status light is lit.

3.   Press and hold Feed and Cancel for two seconds to print a configuration report. The printer's IP address is listed at the top of the report.

4.   On the PC, go to Start > Settings > Printers & Scanners > Add a printer > The printer I want isn't listed.

5.   Select Add a printer using a TCP/IP address or hostname.

6.   Choose TCP/IP Device from the Device type dropdown, then enter the IP address from step 3 in the Hostname or IP address field.

7.   Confirm Generic Network Card is selected under Device Type, then select Next.

8.   When prompted for a driver, select ZDesigner ZD411-203dpi ZPL (or ZDesigner ZD411-300dpi ZPL for the high-resolution model), then select Next.

9.   Confirm or update the printer name, then select Next.

10.       Choose whether to share this printer with other computers on your network, then select Next.

11.       Print a test page to confirm the connection, then select Finish.
