This document outlines the setup of the Zebra GC-420t “F&B” Thermal Label Printer. The first section details the installation of the labels and thermal label material. The second section details adjusting the printer to print properly.
Installing the Thermal Label Material Roll
1. Open the printer
4. Insert the cardboard roll in the printer as shown.
5. Place the adhesive portion of the thermal label material onto the cardboard roll.
6. Turn the adjustment gear (shown in picture) counter-clockwise to feed the material onto the cardboard roll.
7. The thermal material set up should now look like the picture below.
Installing the Heat-Resistant Labels
2. Use the adjustment knob to set the correct width for the label, as shown.
3. Close the printer lid. The printer is now ready to be gap-adjusted.
Set Printer to Print Using ‘Thermal Transfer’
These steps allow you to set up the printer to use ‘Thermal Transfer’ labels.
1. On the computer the printer is connected to, open up ‘Devices and Printers’. Navigate to Printing Preferences for the Zebra GC-420t Thermal Printer.
2. Click the Advanced Setup tab. Set the media settings as shown below. The printer will be ready for gap adjustment.

Whenever you change a label size, you will need to re-gap, or re-set the printer gap sensor so that it recognizes where the label begins and ends. After you load the new label stock and close the printer, then follow these directions:

You can increase the darkness of Zebra labels.
3. Choose a darkness level from the darkness dropdown close to 15 or higher (see picture below).
