Quick Reference: Best Practices for Searching for items

Yellow Dog offers multiple filter and search options to help you find items efficiently. Understanding how these options work ensures accurate and faster item lookups.

Filter and search options
View
Each view focuses on specific item data. Not all items appear in every view.

Store filter
Shows only items available to the selected store or stores.

Level filter
Shows only items assigned to the selected level or levels.

Vendor filter
Shows only items assigned to the selected vendor.

Other options
The Other menu includes additional filters:
  • Hide parent items (base units)

  • Hide child items (additional sizes)

  • Hide no-count items

  • Show only purchasing sizes

  • Show only transfer sizes

  • Include inactive and removed items

InfoNote: To find inactive or removed items, you must select Include Inactive and Removed Items.

Search bar
You can search using any value shown in the current view’s columns.

Common issue

If an item doesn’t appear, confirm that it meets the selected view and filter criteria. Searching for items excluded by filters can make it appear as though the item doesn’t exist in the system.
