Sync YDI With Count Apps

Docked Mode

February 2019

SyncYdiwithCountApps

Yellow Dog Docked Mode Guide

Our new docked mode using SyncYDIwithCountApps allows you to transfer physical inventory information from the Unitech 602 device to Yellow Dog Inventory without using our web APIs. This approach uses USB transfer to update item information on the device and pull sessions into the client.

You will receive your Unitech device installed with the latest version of CountSheet and CountRetail applications.

Sync Requirements

Your Yellow Dog Support or Implementation guide will need access via Teamviewer to the PC that will be running the sync. Alternative connection options can also be discussed if Teamviewer access cannot be provided.

Administrative Rights will need to be granted to Yellow Dog or a user with these permissions will need to be present during installation.

The Yellow Dog Guide will need to

  • Create a working directory in the sync folder to store data come to and from the device
  • Configure the sync to your database

System Requirements

  • Windows 7 or Higher
  • .NET framework 4.6.2

Before Running the Sync

You will need to have a Yellow Dog login ready prior to running the sync. The sync will use this login information to determine the items, count sheets (when applicable) and store(s) to sync.

Connecting the Device

  1. Connect the Unitech 602 device to your PC using the provided USB cable
  2. You will need to switch the USB setting on the device from Charging to File Transfer
  • You can view the current setting by swiping down on the device from the top menu bar
  • If in Charging Mode, the setting will read “USB Charging this device”, tap for more options to make the change
  • Once you switch to file transfer, you PC should recognize the device and open a window displaying the device’s Internal Shared Storage.
  • Note: this action will have to be preformed every time the device is reconnected to the PC.

Running the Sync

  1. Double click on SyncWithYdiCountSheets icon
  2. There are two sync options “Pull” and “Go”. The first sync should be a “Go” Typically, you will use Go whenever you want to load new data on the device and unload any sessions. A “Pull” will only extract all sessions that have been marked to export in the device.
  • A “Go” should always be run prior to beginning a physical inventory so new items and item updates are in the device.
  1. When you hit go, you will be prompted to enter in login credentials for Yellow Dog Inventory. Make sure the user used has all the permissions and store availability you need for the inventory that will be performed. New items cannot be created on the handheld.

  1. The device is now ready to be used. Unplug the device and open either CountRetail or CountSheet. You will be automatically logged into either app using the credentials you provided during the sync.
  1. After performing a session and all counts are finalized, you will need to export the session prior to re-syncing. In the top right corner of the session, click on the “Export button” and confirm the session is ready to export in the wizard.
  • Note: unlike the API version, there is no force recount with the docked versions so only export sessions when finished.
  1. Once all sessions have been exported that are needed, reconnect the device via USB.
  2. Make sure that the device is in the “Transfer File USB mode” as previously mentioned.
  3. Open the SyncYdiWithCountApps.exe and click either “Pull” or “Go”.
  • All the sessions that are exported will now be available in Yellow Dog under the sessions list to be pulled into the physical.
