Reporting Explained: Sale By Hour of Day

 

Use this report to analyze when sales occur throughout the day.

This helps you:

  • Identify peak sales hours
  • Optimize staffing and operations
  • Understand customer purchasing patterns
 
Reports > Standard Reports > Retail > Sales > By Hour of Day


This report summarizes sales by the hour in which transactions occur.

  • Groups sales into hourly time periods
  • Includes sales, discounts, costs, and profit metrics
  • Only displays hours with recorded transactions

InfoNote: If your POS sends sales as a single daily total, all sales may appear under midnight (12:00 AM).

 
  1. Go to Reports > Standard Reports
  2. Open Retail
  3. Open Sales
  4. Select By Hour of Day
  5. Set filters:
    1. Stores (default: All)
    2. Levels (default: All)
    3. Vendors (default: All)
    4. Evergreen Items (default: All)
    5. Ignore No Count Items (default: Off)
    6. Show Only Discounted Items (default: Off)
    7. Show Only Returns (default: Off)
  6. Click Generate Report

Total RetailQuantity sold × item retail price
Total DiscountTotal discounts applied
Total Net RetailTotal Retail − Total Discount
Total CostQuantity sold × calculated cost at time of sale
Net ProfitTotal Net Retail − Total Cost
Total Margin(Total Retail − Total Cost) ÷ Total Retail
POS TicketsNumber of POS transactions during the hour
Average Check RetailAverage transaction value for the hour
