How Do I Use the MSI Installer?

First follow the link to download the MSI installer that was provided to you by your Support Guide or Implementation Consultant.  You will want to download the application to your PC.

When you open the installer, the Yellow Dog Inventory Setup Wizard will pop up.  Follow the prompts to install.

The installer will automatically select the Program Files folder on the C drive for installation.

Select “Next” and the installation will begin.

Once installation is complete, navigate to your C Drive and open the Program Files folder, or if you selected a different location for installation, the folder that was chosen in the Setup Wizard

The first time you are running your newly installed Yellow Dog Inventory, you will need to right click the application and “run as administrator.”

Choose the option “Show Advanced Setup” and enter the Server Name, Port Number, Database Name, and DB(SQL) Username that were provided to you by the Implementation or Support Team.

Select “Test Connection” to confirm that installation and setup was successful. If the test connection was successful select OK, and Yellow Dog will launch.

The next window will allow you to enter your Yellow Dog username and password. If you do not have a Yellow Dog username and password your Onsite Admin will need to assist.
