How Do I Perform a Cycle Count in Yellow Dog?

When you are conducting a Physical Inventory, but you are not counting all items that you have in your inventory, you are performing what is called a Cycle Count in Yellow Dog.  In a Cycle Count, because you are not including all items in your database in the Physical, only those items which you have included in your count will be updated by this Physical.

To create a new Cycle Count first create your session, counting all items that you wish to update twith this physical.  Next, navigate to the physical inventory section of Yellow Dog and select “Create New Physical Inventory.”

Choose the store you are performing your Cycle Count for, just as you would for your normal Physical Inventory.

Next, rather than selecting to add all of your database’s active items, you will need to “select from other options.”

Add the items from your session.  This will bring in only those items that you counted and exclude all other items in your database.

Next, add your counts from that same session.  This will bring in the quantity counted into the physical.

Now in the Physical Inventory Editor, you will have an inventory that is only updating those items which you counted and excluding all others from an update at this time.  You will want to set your effective date and time and make any adjustments or recounts as you normally would when conducting a physical, and commit when you are confident in your numbers.
